A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

This Dallas, Texas, USA based Black/Speed Metal trio recently finished the recordings of their first demo/EP, ‘Recrudescence Of Diabolism’, which was eventually released at the very start of February of 2023. It is available digitally as well as on cassette tape and CD if you prefer a physical format.

Those who are up for some almost 20 minutes of tasty but rather non-complicated Blackened Speed Metal could consider to check out Tyrant’s Might. Their music, pretty much in the right German and Swedish tradition, brings forth a speedy and rocking kind of Black Metal with a loud rumbling Motörhead sort of bass-guitar and barking vocals. Some guitar leads are added for good measure as well, though they are not of extremely high level, they do have some added value and brings an extra sleazy element to the music. Nothing on this five-track demo makes you wonder if you’ve missed anything in the past three decades, this is just extreme metal like the 90’s (and beyond) never happened. And, frankly, when looking at the track list, with titles such as ‘Nüclear Black Magick’, it already left very little to the imagination. But then again, if it tastes good… it just tastes good. Tyran’t Might makes you want to get your old battle vest out of the attic and crack a beer.
