Vok – Death and Darkness [Demo]

vok – death and darkness [demo]

Info

Vok (Valley of Koffins) is a one-man Black Metal attack from Ashtabula, Ohio – and the main-man behind Lehman – Arktys. Lehman is, for starters, a Dungeon Synth project, mostly influenced by Winter, and it makes perfect sense, believe me. Vok, on the other hand, is a Panzer attack, a furious warlike invasion of the senses. It is harsh and chaotic at times.

The artist states Blasphemy as one of the bands that one might hear in this Demo, and he not far from it. Well, I would not Blasphemy, but within the War Black Metal sphere.

All songs are under the 2-minute mark, and some Dungeon Synth is used to create a sort of division among the songs. Honestly, I cannot see much more than sonic violence, and although some riffs are actually very well structured, as a whole, it is very linear and monotonous.

Again, very honestly, War Black Metal is far from being a dynamic and extremely creative genre, so… Valley of Koffins leaves us with the idea that this is an escape from all the Dungeon Synth that Arktys created throughout the years, however, it is not much more than that.

“Where Shadows Move” is, at least for me, the best track in this Demo. UGH and stuff… the problem is not the artist; the problem is War Black Metal. Nonetheless, the Dungeon Synth moments are, although short, delicate, and pleasantly pleasant.
