A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Out of Caguas, Puerto Rico we received the second full-length album at VM-Underground. It’s titled “Kairos” and is filled with 47minutes of solid Thrash. Not the Thrash Metal I normally listen to, therefore it’s to polished and brave – and also some Speed and NWOBM make their entrance, but general seen this is a decent release. Two songs are in the Spanish language (‘Guerreros’ and ballad ‘El Vacio’), the rest of the track list are songs in the English language. Don’t know why they did this, perhaps some kind of respect for their country…

Many riffs are audible and there’s a huge pile of melody to hear in the tracks, but it lacks some aggression and venom to make it one album that touches me the whole time. Okay, the guitar and drum parts are brisk and the production is very clean, but the vocals miss some testosterone in my opinion. This album is aimed for the more brave and traditional metal fans I guess – perhaps I could point out Trivium as an example. To repeat myself: decent. (Fredde)
