A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

This new Death Metal band from Germany is presenting their very first effort with ‘Obsessed By Sickness’, a 5-track demo that shows the band’s potential over its full 20 minutes. Yes, ‘Obsessed By Sickness’ can easily be called one of the best Death Metal demos from the last few months…

Yes, it is great, but no, it brings nothing new. On the contrary, Doomscroller is comfortably staying within the realms of Old School Death Metal. But with a kind nod to the Swedish school, including a modest buzzsaw sound, and mostly because of the great Punk-vibe, this demo is bringing their filth and fury so convincingly.

Doomscroller combines all those familiar ingredients and forge it together into something that sounds close to, say, a combination of Dismember and Fleshcrawl. Take a listen to ‘Xenomelia’ and you will definitely hear the resemblance to everything that makes Old School Death Metal a great genre.

Unfortunately ‘Obsessed By Sickness’ has only been released as a digital demo, but I’ll eat my shoes if this will not be snatched up by a great label soon. Great stuff!
