A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

The German/Swedish band Rotpit, with Jonny Pettersson (of Wombbath fame, amongst many others) and Henrik Poisingis and Ralf Hauber (both of Revel In Flesh), returns with a single-track demo called ‘Rottenness’. A follow-up to their 2021 demo-tape ‘Into The Rotpit’, which was unleashed upon humanity by Selfmadegod Records (on cassette tape) and a year later on 7” EP by Seven Inches Of Metal Records.

That first three-track demo had a good, heavy and crunchy slab of Old School Death Metal to offer. It might not have been all that mind-boggling and it might have sounded a little neat, but it was executed with passion and dedication. That is basically the same on this new track. Again it is rather clinical and not as dirty as I usually like my Death Metal best, but it is again a nice and stomping, simple Death Metal song with enough punch and heavy grooving riffs. Some eerie guitar leads are added for good measure and giving it enough variation and even a little dynamics. With a total playing time of about 4 minutes, this would be a great track for a split 7” EP with… Revel In Flesh maybe?
