A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

You are not allowed to know the identities of The Dark Overlords, so you shall know them simply as Dark Overlord #1, #2 and #3. What you are permitted to know is that they are Danes and purveyors of Blackened Death Metal, and that ‘I Am The Dark Overlords’ is their debut EP. It is a cautious start from The Dark Overlords, an acoustic introduction to ‘Death from the Sky’ laced with fear and trepidation, that builds slowly, rising gradually until a powerful combination of thumping percussion and dark riffs enter the fray, making room for ice cold guitar leads, punishing bass play and croaky abrasive vocal work. A very well created track, pitted with peaks and troughs of flowing aggression, intensive slower rhythms and Melodic Death Metal style guitar wizardry! A bold statement is then made with ‘The End Of The World Is Coming, And I’ll Be The Cause Of It’; a track whose style is far more roughneck and blistering in tone, with a more Black Metal feel to the guitars and a vocal style that flicks between the same screeched tones and a more deathly growled approach. That being said, as the track progresses the bands penchant for guitar solos and bleak melody once more surface! The Dark Overlords draw their impressive debut to a close with the colossal hammerings and marauding rhythms of ‘Region of Demons’, the bands most chaotic and apocalyptic sounding track to date. All hail our Dark Overlords.
