A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Black Metal from Greece of Hellenic Black Metal if you will, that’s what Elegos is all about. As always I hope to hear something of the golden years of Hellenic Black Metal. Something in the vein of Necromantia, early Rotting Christ or early Varathron. Well, Elegos doesn’t execute their war hymns in that unholy style, but keeps it more raw and epic in the traditional early 90s way. Also the theme is more about ancient battles, fallen warriors and acts of heroism than about a “Majesty” or a “Swamp”. Or something Witching Black which is Scarlet and Evil. Elegos means mournful songs in ancient Greek, followed by the tunes of a pipe. Keep this in mind when you listen to the title track, cause that track represents the meaning quite a lot. As a reference you can say Elegos is the little brother of Wodensthrone, only with fewer keys and with a more bleak sound. More Burzum-ish than Winterfylleth as it is colder. But hey, this is only their first demo and it is a good start…hopefully they will get closer to the sound of their older brother with their forthcoming releases. (Ricardo)
