Gravemoon – Glare Of Suicidal Apparitions [Demo]

gravemoon – glare of suicidal apparitions [demo]

Info

Not so much is known about this Black Metal band from Puerto Rico, yet it is around for at least a year as this second demo, ‘Glare Of Suicidal Apparitions’ follows up the band’s debut demo that appeared in January 2023. That first demo had a playing time of just over three minutes (one track plus intro), this newest release follows a similar path with again only one track that is preceded by an intro, this time clocking almost seven minutes in total.

While the playing time might not be so impressive, the music on offer is pretty interesting. The title of this short demo in combination with the logo with two nooses (quite reminiscent of Happy Days) might already give you more than a hint of what to expect. Musically Gravemoon can indeed be filed under what is commonly called “Depressive Black Metal” (or “Suicidal Black Metal”, if you’d prefer). An overall raw affair with sombre melodies being laced upon a foundation of slow and equally mournful riffing. That dreary and cheerless feeling is further empowered by some slow guitar strumming and torturous (and distorted) vocals. It might not quite be the most comforting and hopeful listen, but despite the two tracks (not counting the two intros) the band offered on both of their releases I am quite interested in how this will be worked out of a bit more lengthier output in the future.
