Excaved – The Rotten Touch [Demo]

excaved – the rotten touch [demo]

Info

Excaved is a horror themed Old School Death Metal band from Wolfsburg, Germany and they released their demo “The Rotten Touch” back in May. It consists of 3 purely vile HM-2 powered Death Metal song and a moody, atmospheric synth intro.

Theme wise the music seems to revolve around old school horror, judging based of the lyrics that I heard and the cover art as well. Even the font on the cover art just screams old horror films.

The guitar tone and the riffs are absolutely crushing, which reminds me a lot of classic Florida Death Metal, but there is definitely a Swedish touch in there. Same goes for the bass and the drums, it’s just a very fat wall of sound overall.

For me personally though, the production is way too clean and modern to call this a demo. When I listen to a “demo”, I want to hear noises that could be mistaken for someone dragging a chainsaw into a gravel road. I’d much rather call this an EP. But seeing through that, it’s still a very good release overall.

Without any doubt I will purchase the tape version of this demo from their Bandcamp and I’m definitely looking forward to hear more from these guys in the future.
