A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Cell is a cosmic Black Metal band from Winnipeg, Canada.  After a sci-fi  horror and apocalyptic intro the album starts off with a classic Black Metal thunder. Well placed blast beats follows mid tempo double bass drumming and the vocals are mostly grim sounding Black Metal screams. The guitars give the songs a very raw feeling while the few leads on this record remind me of some progressive Death Metal bands which I‘ve heard years ago.

I don’t find the album particularly catchy and I don’t think that’s the goal here. Rather, this is one of those albums where you’re better sitting back, grab a glass of wine or a cup of tea, let the music do its job and just enjoy the moment.
