A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

It’s already been a couple of years since the Norwegian band Order released their second album ‘The Gospel’. That record was very much in line with the legendary ‘Deathcrush’ EP by Mayhem, which was perhaps not surprising since some of the members of Order had been involved in the earliest incarnations of that band.

Featuring two tracks that combine for eight minutes of material, on ‘Void’ there is clear overlap with the material on ‘The Gospel’. Once again, the focus is on primitive Black Metal with minimal song structures and distorted vocals. The pace here is strictly midtempo, more akin to song like ‘It Burns’, ‘Lust’ and ‘Descend’ that were featured on the predecessor. In fact, a comparison with the more crushing material of Celtic Frost such as ‘Procreation of the Wicked’ or the material on their album ‘Monotheist’ is more accurate as using ‘Deathcrush’ as a reference. Considering the massive impact that Hellhammer/Celtic Frost had on the Norwegian Black Metal scene, it will be interesting to see whether Order will decide to emphasize this sound more on their upcoming album. Certainly, something to keep in the back of our minds while we listen to this enjoyable little teaser.
