A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

The first EP from the American metal band Voidkeeper was released on independent base in 2022. The vocals are somewhat screamy yet with a Black Metal edge, but the first thing that got my attention was the thick heavy melodic riffs that are thrown at the listeners. Mostly when you read that a band combines Death metal with Black metal you suspect there’s going to be some blast beats involved – which isn’t the case on this EP, and in its own way that’s something unique.

An to be honest, I would place them more in a blackened Doom/Stoner metal sound than Death metal. This album has got a very doomy outcome but sounds catchy at the same time. Perhaps the vocals could have turned up a notch in the production, but overall seen this really charms my metal senses. ‘Bog Monster’ is my favorite without doubt! Worth your time to give this one a spin! Ps: hands up for the artwork with the slimy corpse that reflects the eternal decay perfectly!
