A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

I just so happened to stumble along this killer Death/Doom Metal band from Bratislava, Slovakia named Hrob while being stuck in a major Doom scroll. Thankfully they broke me free from the downward spiral. So now I’m gonna share my thoughts on it with you.

This four piece devastation unit put out their first demo through Bandcamp on July 17th of this year, 2023. And having only starting out life in 2021 they have seemed to quickly developed a personal, individual sound all their own. Well, as much as you can truly get to a individual sound in this subgenre’s sect.

After the initial ‘Introduction’ that solemnly and appropriately sets the scene, we are treated to three tracks of Hrob styled Death/Doom Metal that is sure to sour anyone’s mood (in the proper Death/Doom way). And what does the Hrob way sound like you ask? Well, it happens to sound like a mix of the great Incantation and the almighty Thurisaz but much more simplified, decayed so to say than either of those bands have ever been. It’s dank, dirty and depressed just the way you would want it be.

This demo is killer, it’s torturingly murderous even. This demo celebrates everything that is good and vile with both Death and Doom and combines them in one very dank, visceral way. So stop your own doom scrolling and get depressed with Hrob’ demo today.
