Burgonet – Demo One [Demo]

burgonet – demo one [demo]

Info

There’s something about Finnish Black Metal that always impressed me, and it’s the undeniable ability that Finns have of creating incredibly beautiful and somber soundscapes without making it sound pretentious or cheesy.

I can hear some similarities to their fellow compatriots at Mooncitadel here, but I’d dismiss any comments of Burgonet being a copy, especially because the music here is so distinct.

The guitar work here is very well put together and it complements the synths so well that, with its triumphant harmonies and medieval flourishes, it’s like each song is telling a story or an old myth about battles past and heroes of antiquity.

Burgonet’s first demo is a majestic piece of synth driven Black Metal that delivers in many levels, despite its simplistic presentation. Actually, I’d even say that the simplicity of Burgonet’s artwork and logo are also beneficial, as there’s nothing to detract your attention from the music contained here.

Definitely a demo that will please fans of some good old Raw Black Metal but also to those you enjoy the symphonic side of the genre as well.
