A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Since 2013, Black Metal/Ambient project Burgûli has been the outlet for the creativity of Lord Gothaur, who hails from the Basque/Catalonia region of Spain. ‘Runes’ is his 2020 EP that he self-released on CD.

Have you ever wondered what a goat would sound like as a Black Metal vocalist? Well in the case of this EP it sounds more like a constipated goat. As the lo-fi but slightly atmospheric combination of wind swept riffs, simplistic muffled drumming and metronomic bass tones plays out, Lord Gothaur proceeds to bleat his anguished heart out, thoroughly ruining what had up until this point been a decent, if simplistic, display of dark, foreboding Black Metal.

I genuinely like the music. Its unspectacular and a little clunky but it has its charms. Those vocals though… oh dear the vocals!
