Black and white cover? Check. Red logo? Check. Satanic imagery? Check. Barbarian sounding band name and release title? Check! Even without listening to a single chord of this 7-tracks-in-23-minutes-demo, I am sure many of you did the same analysis within a split second. And I am sure we all came to the same conclusion, this must be something in the line of the much beloved grinding Black Metal acts of Archgoat, Blasphemy and Black Witchery…

And of course you were right. Luciferian Annihilation Cult, a relatively new power-trio from Germany delivers you just another fist in the face of anything subtle and pristine. A raw and very muffled sound enhances the feeling of a true underground recording which is built out of the same old basics of those other bands: heavy grinding guitars, thick pumping bass and, above all, barbaric cave man style drumming and barking vocals. Yet the band does not merely step into the well-trodden paths, here and there the music is made a bit more exciting with a somewhat eerie-sounding Black Metal accent in the guitars – then again, I wouldn’t dare call it a lead or melody, don’t be silly!

Overall, with its dark, suppressed and deadened sound the music has a certain similarity with the great (and forgotten?) Void Meditation Cult, truly suffocating and utterly brutal, clearly brought to you with foul intent. In short, this is the stuff that those like the aforementioned bands as well as Beherit, Proclamation or even early Impaled Nazarene.
