A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Relics of Martyrs has its roots in the land Jordan and is active since 2008. Death/thrash metal is the style they want to follow and with their – apparently a concept album titled “Scenes of Blood and Betrayal”, the debut album this year is a fact. I haven’t found any recordings about an earlier demo or so, so they take a big gamble with throwing a full-length album in the scene as appetizer. Well, after listening to it I’m not that enthusiastic about it. Okay, there are some riffs in the album that are quite good, but generally seen I think this album needs more balls. The vocals switch between grunts and screams, distorted guitars are audible, the drums sometimes have an oriental touch in it, but if you listen to the whole album, I had to conclude that it all sounds somewhat average. The big fault in my opinion is the bass, because they must give the bass guitar a louder volume and let it take a bigger part in their songs. Adding more bass in the music will give their sound more dimension I guess. To be honest, there are not that many bands from Jordan I guess, and it’s a good first attempt, but for now it’s just a band out of a dozen. One track stands out in comparison with the tracks and for me its “Judas Between Us”. Feel free to give this release a try! (Fredde)
