A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

The illustrious duo that is known as Abnutivum has seemingly resurrected out of a 10 year hibernation. Their first and only offering was a 2013 released demo/EP on cassette tape, called ‘Master’s Morbid Lust’, after which the band folded or just faded into oblivion. Big is then the surprise to see the band return in 2023, a whopping 10 years after their last sign of life.

However, the almost 17 minutes long new demo (or EP) still leaves little to the imagination. A very violent mix of Black Metal and Death Metal with a good dose of Grindcore and other indefinable chaoticism. They are pretty much heading in the same musical direction chosen by bands such as Weregoat and Abysmal Lord, sounding wild and claustrophobic, suffocating and extremely demonic. Its violent bursts of frantic drums, murky and down tuned guitars and vocal brutality are as raw as it is uncultivated, definitely fodder for those who are entertained by bands like Archgoat, the first Impaled Nazarene album, Blasphemy and Proclamation. Good stuff, now it is a matter of waiting before this demo is also made available on cassette tape.
