A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

‘Pain’ is a one track / fifteen minute EP release from a duo who hail from Cleveland, Ohio and San Jose, California out in the US, and go by the name of Angurus. The duo themselves describe their sound as harsh dark sounds and that is a very accurate description. I also find the artwork intriguing; is it part of a face? Maybe a desolate landscape? I’d say its certainly open for interpretation. Despite the EP being called ‘Pain’, the solitary track is entitled ‘Wall of Teeth’ and has a sound that combines Raw Black Metal riffs and agonized vocals, with a reverb drenched Drone Doom style. It has a bleak, foreboding atmosphere and it never deviates from its trudging, ambling flow. In fact the only real change is the in the levels of savage intensity being produced, which ebbs and flows throughout. To some this will be 15 minutes of noise, to others it will be 15 minutes of oppressive, intensely atmospheric noise. I’m of the latter opinion.
