Adaga – Spawning Black Seeds [EP]

adaga – spawning black seeds [ep]

Info

The 2019 debut EP release ‘Spawning Black Seeds’ by Brazilian duo Adaga is most notable for its graphic artwork and explicitly anti-religious lyrics which describe in equally graphic detail the birth of the Anti-Christ, and all within the opening title track. There is also a strong Occult flavour to track such as ‘Astral Void’ whilst ‘I walk With Saturn’ is purely interested in watching the world and cosmos burn!

Musically, Adaga’s sound is powerful and deeply atmospheric, with surprisingly fluent and clear production. The drum tones keep up a savage bombardment of double kicked beats whilst the vocals croak out remorselessly. High in the mix is the punishing unstoppable rumble of bass which I really enjoy, and the guitar leads are engaging and hard hitting, and all the while there is a slither of synth undertone to keep things flowing smoothly. Add to the mix some nice sounding guitar solos and the flowing melodic rhythm of this EP is very agreeable.

‘Spawning Black Seeds’ is a surprisingly smooth sounding EP that weight in at just shy of fifteen minutes, and this despite the direct and explicit nature of their lyrics. Its certainly not what I was expecting from a Brazilian Black Metal two piece but is very enjoyable none the less.
