A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Although Vinterskögen is a track of the mighty “Welcome to my Last Chapter” album of Vinterland, this band has nothing to do with the melodic Black/Death Metal of the Swedish band. The drummer of Vinterskögen also plays in Odalheim, and I’m going to say it right away, otherwise you will never guess the origin, but Vinterskögen is from Brazil. The aim is to play a raw atmospheric kind of Black Metal, influenced by the Nordic kings of the Second Wave of Black Metal. It is certainly raw, because of the rehearsal room sound, yet the atmospheric part is a bit misleading. Closing track “Vinterfrost” is the most atmospheric one, but it has more to do with the mid-tempo riffs than the ingredients most atmospheric bands use. Not a bad demo, hopefully the forthcoming Vinterskögen / Worros split will show progression. (Ricardo)
