Vengeance Hammer – Preemptive Assault [Demo]

vengeance hammer – preemptive assault [demo]

Info

You can just take the band name, Vengeance Hammer, add to that the gruesome cover art, and if you also keep in mind that the lyrics deal with nuclear war, diseases and other sorts of unparalleled, raging acts violence, chances are that you already know what you are dealing with here.

This one-man Black/Death Metal act presented its first demo on December 30th of 2022, providing a good soundtrack for a new nuclear age full of unbridled violence. The four tracks of this demo that serve that purpose bring you a good mix between what made the first Angelcorpse records so appealing with the equally uninhibited ferocity of the Bay Ross Cult kind of bands. With extremely violent Black Metal riffs, Vengeance Hammer does sound less Grindcore-tinged than bands like Teitanblood or Proclamation, so a comparison with early Angelcorpse makes a lot of sense – apart from the obvious war themed lyrics and cover. But it obviously also draws influences from bands like Black Witchery or Impiety, going for the full-blasting frontal attack: dark, uncontrollably chaotic, murderous, savage… The riffs and blasting drums on ‘Preemptive Assault’ pretty much live up to this demo’s title: although the band name and cover might suggest that you should’ve prepared for it, it still appears to be an utterly barbaric arbitrary act of homicidal violence and it definitely did not come to take prisoners. The barbaric and primitive riffs are smothering you and leaves very much to the imagination.

The second part of the demo seems a little less suffocating and lacks a bit of the ferocity of the first songs, but ‘Preemptive Assault’ still comes as a worthy and solid first demo from this USA-based one-man act. Let’s see what’s next from Vengeance Hammer.
