Ghostwound – The Way Back (Demo I) [Demo]

ghostwound – the way back (demo i) [demo]

Info

Ghostwound is a new Dungeon Synth-heavy Black Metal act that is most likely the product of one anonymous figure, I guess the one depicted on the cover, from Indonesia. The three tracks on this demo, with a short playing time of just under 8 minutes, are (for now) only available as a digital stream through the band’s Bandcamp page, yet, I wouldn’t be surprised whether it would get a physical release soon too.

Not so much because the music of Ghostwound is so original or outstanding in its genre, but because the production and its ambiance are both just spot on. If you do like your Black Metal raw or even lo-fi and have a weak spot for Dungeon Synth as well, then Ghostwound is serving you your next stop on your ever-going search for new acts. The haunting melodies, almost like eerie whistling tones, are key on ‘The Way Back (Demo I)’. They keep the listener on edge throughout this short ride, even when all three tracks are completely instrumental (and untitled). Due to its melodic nature and raw production, nearing that aforementioned Lo-Fi Black Metal territory, it reminds me of the mellower works of Drowning The Light. This comes recommended and I am very much looking forward to any of the band’s new material.
