A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

One of the great surprises from last year that only now came to my attention, Cwlt Draig first full length is upon us!

Hailing from Wales, Cwlt Draig comes delivering a potent and cavernous brand of Black Metal, that sounds fierce and mysterious and evocative of dark contemplations.

Through ‘Camlan’ I can get some early Beherit influences here and there, specially from the ‘Drawing Down the Moon’ album, but the influence from other bands like Cultes des Ghoules and early Mortuary Drape are evident.

If you’re into reverb drenched, dismal and primitive Black Metal, Cwlt Draig has you covered in all of these aspects. The simplistic riff, the thumping drums and the whispery vocals all work in perfect harmony to build an amalgam of old and even arcane sounding Black Metal without getting into pretentious levels.

Check out the song “Breuddwyd o Heddwch”, which encapsulates all of the aforementioned qualities I’ve commented so far.

This is one of the highlights from last year that flew under the radar of many. Definitely check it out if you like your Black Metal necro and smelling of mold and old tombs.

Here’s to hoping for a physical release soon!
