A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

From Berlin, Germany comes this three-piece Death Metal band. In 2020 they released their first demo tape ‘Putrescent Utterance’ through the Italian Unholy Domain label – with an extra run in 2021. The band followed it up by their self-released ‘Optogram Of The Depraved’-demo last year. And although this demo is from 2021, it is still pretty much worth your attention.

After an ominous intro this three-track demo burst into a barbaric sort of Old School Death Metal that has some hints of that Ross Bay Cult alike savagery. Deep gurgling vocals, simple yet effective chopping drums and short and sharp riffs. it also proudly bears clear influences from early Grindcore and Black Metal. Putrescine does, however, bring some more dynamics to their music than most other bands in the genre, they weave some Morbid Angel like riffs through their otherwise mainly primitive sound and they don’t keep to a one-dimensional tempo either. The vocals of Angria der Grausame (who is also active in bands like Nameless Tomb and Envenom and used to be in Drengskapur too) are of the ultra-rotten and bowel churning kind, it leaves very little to the imagination. This is certainly the sort of morbid and putrid Death Metal that fans of bands like Teitanblood, Proclamation, Vomitor, Blasphemy, Archgoat and the likes will appreciate. Yep, good stuff!
