A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

Information on Extiferation is rather scarce, other than that this is a new one-man act from Turkey, very little is to be found back. But, sometimes that is of very little importance anyway and the music will do all the talking. Such is the case with Extiferation and its debut demo.

The title of the demo is actually already allowing you to take a wild guess on what to expect. I am quite convinced you were spot on when you were expecting some unpolished, raw Black/Death Metal of the foulest kind. This anonymous creature behind Extiferation indeed brings you exactly that, something that comes quite close to the crudest incarnations of Blasphemy, Von and Beherit. It pays homage to the infamous and revered grinding Black/Death sound that after its inception by the aforementioned Unholy Trinity, ever lurked deep in the underground. No originality here, but when something is done in such a genuine fashion as presented here, there is no need to take unorthodox angles to deliver the good. On the contrary even, you would think. It all sound pure and evil to its very core, with the heavily distorted vocals contributing even more to the otherworldly nefarious experience.

Sharing that honour with Canadian newcomers Gotthammer, we are being treated to some of the best Ross Bay Cult sort of brutality of this year. Extiferation really takes us on a nightmarish, apocalyptic ride through the deepest and darkest corners of the Black/Death Metal genre and has no trouble keeping you in its grip and forcing you to press that play button again and again.
