Tenebro – La Bestia Dell’Isola Maledetta [EP]

tenebro – la bestia dell’isola maledetta [ep]

Info

Just five weeks after the release of the band’s second full-length album, Italian gore lords Tenebro are back with another (digital only) EP, their fourth in total. This time they have dedicated the two tracks to Joe D’Amato, a “famous” Italian director of horror, porn and all things foul…

Although D’Amato already passed away a quarter of a century ago, when the god father of Tenebro Hannes Delbello was only two years old and most likely just started to watch Barbapapa, I am sure he would be honoured. In the right Tenebro tradition, the duo pummels themselves through the two tracks of slow and gory Death Metal. Compared to the previously released second full-length, the tracks do have a slightly rawer sound, but that, to some extent, actually gives more way to the guitars that for a change do not sound utterly blubbery this time. Furthermore, this new EP just delivers what you expect from Tenebro, simple yet fairly effective Death Metal in old Mortician fashion.

Admittedly though, after a demo, four EP’s and two full-length albums the formula really starts to wear down. Yet, as stated in the review of their second long player, this sort of music definitely works much better on the EP-format, short and virulent. Although this EP is presented as a digital EP, I am quite convinced that Seven Metal Inches Records will pick it up for a release on a 7” EP format, like they did before with the band’s demo and previous EP’s.
