A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

About six months after this Italian horror-drenched Death Metal combo released their debut full-length, they return with a new digital EP. While I did like that first album quite a lot, I thought it was just a little too long to be interesting throughout the whole 45-minute ride. So, this new 2-tracker with only 6 minutes of playing time might just well be right up my alley.

And, yes, it is. The slow and little monotonous Death Metal works much better in smaller portions. In fact, it works damn well. Musically it is still all about the old school, down-tuned and guttural early Mortician-like Death Metal, minus the blast beats. Yet it seems that the duo has slightly broadened their view and added a little more dynamics. Fans of the earlier work need not worry, they still work according to a clear recipe, but especially in the drumming there seems to be more emphasis on variety. As a nice addition to their own new track, they also offer an Impetigo cover in the form of ‘Trap Them And Kill Them’, which was originally released on their 1992 Wild Rags released cult classic ‘Horror Of The Zombies’.

It is now only a matter of putting this up a piece of wax of seven inches in diameter. Xtreem Music, the home for this Italian duo, has no history of releasing 7” EP’s, so, who is up for it?
