A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Once again beautiful artwork by Mark Riddick to accompany some rotten Old School Death Metal. You gotta’ love it!

If you have read the first issue of VM-Underground, you probably remember the interview and positive review of the demo of Gravecrusher in that issue. Besides 4 new songs, the 3-track demo ‘Mutilation Ritual’ is included on this EP as well.

The new tracks are in the vein of the old ones, so you can expect a blend of some old Swedish Death Metal (Grave) as well as the European scene (Finland, The Netherlands). The band itself mentioned in the interview they are heavily influenced by Unleashed, but nobody mentioned it in the reviews. On ‘Worship The Impaler’ you can hear it, the groove and the up-tempo riffs, but I still don’t really hear the “heavily” part throughout the whole repertoire.

But let’s just quit splitting hairs, this is a good EP and certainly worth your money.
