A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

After the debut “Abandon All Light” from 2015, Ashcloud are back with the follow-up entitled “Children of the Chainsaw”. Jonny Pettersson (vocals, bass, guitars) who is a vocalist in several other bands among which Wombbath and Skineater plus Gareth Nash (vocals, lead guitars) are now joined by the drummer Jon Rudin and those three deliver twelve tracks of oldschool Swedish Death Metal in the vein of Dismember and Grave. But don’t expect Ashcloud to be a mere copycat of the aforementioned classic bands (we have enough useless imitators already).

Every track has a fine melody line and interesting guitar leads mixed with the usual Death Metal heaviness and aggression. Most of the tracks are played with fast tempo and the dual vocal attack of Pettersson and Nash gives Ashcloud the sound of Carcass meeting dark Swedish Death Metal.

So if you have liked their first release then “Children of the Chainsaw” will not disappoint you – give it a listen and you will discover some good old Death Metal for your ears.
