A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Greece’s Soulskinner released several full-lengths and splits while being being around for more than 2 decades, and while this band has a devoted following, they haven’t yet achieved widespread recognition.

‘Seven Bowls of Wrath’ is once again a decent Death Metal album that will be enjoyable for those who expect some groove and melody in their Death Metal. The comparisons with Gorefest, God Dethroned and Brutality (some riffs and leads, for example ‘Eternal’) come to mind and the mix of both melody and Old School Death Metal kicks in very well.

But to my surprise you will also hear some nice riffs in the mid 90s Swedish Black / Death Metal vein, just listen to the title-track and it gives you a the typical vibe for sure.

In my review of ‘Crypts of Ancient Wisdom’ I mentioned the lack of variation concerning the vocals of Gothmog. On ‘Seven Bowls of Wrath’, on this album, like on the previous split, Marios Lampouridis took care of the vocal duties. His vocals aren’t the highlight of the year concerning variation as well, but it is definitely a step or two up, especially with the more dual vocals moments.

’Seven Bowls of Wrath’ is not a throne-conquering Death Metal album, but it’s a well-crafted album without any doubt.
