Denial of God…..ahhhhhh….. Legends of the black metal scene since the early 90s, and rightfully so. From the beginning, they have put out strong, feral black metal releases without ever losing the passion and integrity since their first demo. I’m going to keep this short and to the point.
This release is a precursor to their album “The Hollow Mass”. Both released this year, I’ll have a very in-depth review of the full length. On this, you get the album track “The Shapeless Mass” plus a very refreshing take on an old favorite track, “The statues are watching” from the same named 7″ record from ’95. You as well get to cover tracks being “Call from the Grave” from Bathory and “Mama Loi,Papa Loi” from Exuma, a band I wasn’t familiar with. All three non-album tracks are all brilliant in their own unique way… The Denial of God way. All in all, I’d say this is for the diehards like myself or someone just getting into them to prepare them for the horror that is “The Hallow Mass” lp… (LOD666)
