A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

The prolific Finnish Black/Thrash triumvirate Bonehunter unleashed their fourth studio album last year, a Hells Headbangers Records release entitled ‘Dark Blood Reincarnation System’ that has been put out on CD, cassette and LP. A maelstrom is violent noise would be first impression of Bonehunter; a fast flowing bout of hectic ear abuse that punishes and penetrates the brain from moment one with scorching, ravenous vocals, darkened volatile riffs, thundering drum tones that create a barrage of oppressive and chaotic insanity, and lastly a bass playing style that rumbled and batters throughout. ‘Dark Blood Reincarnation System’ is an album that doesn’t hang around. It batters and bludgeons uncontrollably and remorselessly but at the same time doesn’t excite me on a personal level. For my personal taste, this is lacking a spark; its pretty samey and just doesn’t engage me in any way. So whilst the album is listenable, it’s also an opus that I’ll have forgotten as soon as this review is finished.
