Mycelium here are a single spore entity that propagated and formed a Death Metal band. Spreading forth from their home soil of Glasgow, Scotland in the United Kingdom. And obviously they are a Death Metal that covers topics ranging from the mighty mushroom to the broader category of horror. This is the bands second full-length album, with their first one being the brilliantly titled ‘Scream Blood Spore”.
Mycelium’s sound emintaing forth from ‘Mycoticism: Disseminating The Propagules’ is a style that mixes from an International pool of Death Metal from the original Golden Age Of Death Metal, the early 90’s. The quickest way to describe the sound found on ‘Mycoticism: Disseminating The Propagules’ would be to say it sounds like ‘Majesty And Decay’ era Immolation mixed with ‘The Fathomless Mastery’ era Bloodbath. (Sure Bloodbath are not from the original Golden Age of Death Metal but their sound most definitely encapsulates the whole of 90’s European Death Metal rather well).
But there is yet another way you could describe Mycelium’s ‘Mycoticism: Disseminating The Propagules’, and that is fucking killer. Honestly, this album fucking rules and will have you headbanging in your kitchen while cooking much as it did to me. Ten tracks, thirty-six and a half minutes of some extremely well written, performed and presented Death Metal of the highest caliber. Check it out today, guaranteed you will have a fun time.
