Tribulation – Putrid Rebirth [EP]

tribulation – putrid rebirth [ep]

Info

Though there are two different bands from Sweden with the name Tribulation, this is the alive and kicking one. It might be a little confusing as Blood Harvest also releases a lot of long forgotten and ancient recordings back on vinyl. Anyway this is not the thrashcore band but the old school death/thrash band that was put to life in the early 00’s.

These guys are blending the old masters from all around the world into a fine thing, bands like Sodom, Death Attack/Protector, early Slayer and Morbid Angel are obvious influences. This EP has the looks, the sounds, the feeling. A nearly fully black and white cover with some cadaver crawling out of his tomb while his rotting bowels are coming out, an impaled zombiehead on the back, songs like ‘Zombie Attack’ and ‘Churning Sea Of Absu’ and an xeroxed insert on which you can read that the members go by names as Evil Kid Joe and D.D. Sars. This is actually the best summary of the content of this EP, old school as old school can be. Musically there is not much of a surprise, mainly up tempo thrash metal with an occasional slower part, something that they should do a bit more often to keep the dark atmosphere in the songs. Their faster parts are a bit reminiscent to Sadus and early Kreator while their slower parts are more like early Morbid Angel.

A nice piece of vinyl anyway, people who are into this kind of music can’t go wrong with this 7” anyway, solid thrash metal, a bit on the fast side though with enough death metal parts and passages to please both parties.
