Hesperia and Hammerheart Records let you experience the darkness of the Marche region with the new album ‘Picenum’: “This is Medieval Black Metal in the vein of the ’90s but adds some Renaissance parts and some ’80s proto Black Metal passages.”

Info

This winter and historical Black Metal is true Marchigian Black Metal!

‘Picenum (True Marchigian Black Metal Renaissance)’ is the natural continuation of ‘Fra Li Monti Sibillini’, expanding its concept to the entire Marche region; the title Picenum indicates the ancient name for a large part of this region. The album is set mostly in the late Middle Ages but also at the beginning of the Renaissance, here highlighted in its darker sides, experienced through the darkness of my region and the places where I was born.

After a brief intro about the region’s ancient origins, the album is divided into 3 parts:

  • The first is dedicated to the history and the very dark legends of the region Marche: the Da Varano Lords who rebelled against the Church by joining the Cursed League in 1375; the history and legend of the Rocca di Pitino (Pitino Fortress) and its deconsecrated church and cemetery; the history and legend of the very dark Roccaccia (The Ugly Fortress) and its warlord necromancer, a servant of the devil.
  • The second is dedicated to the folklore and legends of my region: lu lupu mannà (the Marchigian werewolf), the Mazzamurello (a dark Marchigian sprite), the Sdrega (the Marchigian witch), before returning once again to the Sibilline Mountains. In this part, Hesperus’ grandmother’s voice (R.I.P.) narrates these folklore legends a couple of times (she knew quite a few). Here a bigger amount of Marchigian dialect than Italian (more than ‘Fra li Monti Sibillini’).
  • The third and longest part is, in fact, a continuation that closes the circle with the previous album, and the part is ‘Ritorno fra li monti Sibillini’ (Return to the Sibilline Mountains), with two tracks focusing on the goat-fairies and the Sibylla, and another two tracks that speak of the geographical novel of the Chevalier De la Sale, a real historical figure who was tasked with exploring the Sibilline Mountains and understanding what was inside the Sibylla’s cave; thus, not a knight from an epic poem like in the previous album. He truly met the inhabitants of Montemonaco (Mons Daemoniacus) who led him to the vestibule of the Sibylla’s cave (on the summit of Monte Sibilla) and told him numerous stories of those who entered the cave, including that of a German knight who returned because he was not forgiven by the Church and remained there… forever (the last track: the final 12’ suite).

Stylistically, the album has many similarities with the previous record (a Medieval Black Metal in the vein of the ’90s) but adds some Renaissance parts and some ’80s proto Black Metal passages. As you will notice, there are folk/ambient interludes as in the previous album, but they are not on separate tracks; they are at the end of each track (incorporated into the tracks even if they appear in the tracklist).

Blood Harvest Records proud to announce debut EP from Dishumane: “Unrelenting, pure Death Metal for fans of classic ’90s Death and brutal Death Metal alike: Dishumane don’t aim to reinvent the wheel so much as spin it malevolently and then crush it.

Info

Blood Harvest Records is proud to present Dishumane’s striking debut EP, ‘Centurion’s Demise’, on CD, 12″ vinyl, and cassette tape formats.

Dishumane, in their current iteration, have been a long time coming. The band was formed by guitarist James Shanks, and has been slowly but steadily building up over the past few years. The process was never easy, but at long last, Dishumane are ready to present their first recording, the four-song, 15-minute EP ‘Centurion’s Demise’.

Their history goes back to Shanks recording songs all on his own for a couple of years under the name Sadistic Malevolence. Nothing would really come of them; however, they showed potential. Dishumane really became a reality when Shanks met drummer Dave Procopio. Procopio had a deep understanding of true Death Metal music, similar to Shanks: many love Death Metal, but to fully understand it is a rare occasion when meeting someone else. Shanks and Procopio would go on to have a meetup and rehearsal session in Seattle, where a Guitar Center there used to offer band practice times. They rented out the space and came up with many, and they mean many, amazing drum patterns and guitar riffs. The chemistry was perfect. Months apart would come to pass, but they would communicate daily, and both would be practicing to hone their craft. A year later, after attending an Incantation show in Amityville, New York, Shanks would make a connection with drummer Charlie Koryn, concurrently of Incantation and Ascended Dead. Shanks flew out to San Diego not long after to record Dishumane’s first official EP with Koryn on drums and Chuck Sherwood (also erstwhile of Incantation) on bass.

Blood Harvest realized Dishumane’s potential and signed the band immediately. The first fruit of this union is said EP, ‘Centurion’s Demise’. Unrelenting, pure Death Metal for fans of classic ’90s Death and brutal Death Metal alike: Dishumane don’t aim to reinvent the wheel so much as spin it malevolently and then crush it. Aesthetic comparisons include the likes of Immolation, Morpheus Descends, Deicide, Gorgasm, and Incantation, of course; but on evidence of ‘Centurion’s Demise’ alone, Dishumane’s forthcoming debut album will be a force to be reckoned with.

Arckanum and Darkness Shall Rise Productions announce new EP: “This is neither a return nor a repetition, but a manifestation forged through decades of spiritual workings, experience, and endurance.”

Info

On July 20th internationally, Darkness Shall Rise Productions is proud to present a brand-new EP from Arckanum, ‘Motestandarin’, on 7″ vinyl format. Digital release date shall be June 22nd, when preorders for the 7″ vinyl begin.

‘Motestandarin’ features two songs from the forthcoming 10th studio album of legendary Swedish Black Metal entity Arckanum.

‘Beswærilsin’ (to be released in October 2026) and its precursor EP ‘Motestandarin’ mark the beginning of Arckanum’s third phase: an initiation emerging from a deeper stratum of the Thursian current. This is neither a return nor a repetition, but a manifestation forged through decades of spiritual workings, experience, and endurance. Across eleven ritualistic compositions on the upcoming album, the past is not revisited through nostalgia, but reawakened as a living anti-cosmic force.

The ‘Motestandarin’ EP is, next to digital and streaming, also available as a strictly limited 7″ vinyl edition, restricted to 218 hand-numbered copies (only available in the DSR webshop).

Founded in 1992, Arckanum stands among the oldest and most revered names in Swedish Black Metal. Created and led solely by Shamaatae, the project has released nine full-length albums and numerous EPs throughout its more-than-three-decade history.

‘Beswærilsin’ will be Arckanum’s first full-length album in nine years. Furthermore, two additional albums have already been written and are scheduled for release in the coming years through Darkness Shall Rise.

Scattered Remnants announce release of classic demo ‘Procreating Mass Carnage’ via Redefining Darkness Records: “This long-buried piece of underground Death Metal history is ripe for a new generation of listeners…”

Info

Emerging from the Massachusetts underground in the early 1990s, Scattered Remnants carved out a reputation through sheer brutality, crafting a sound rooted in primitive violence, grotesque atmosphere, and the raw extremity that defined the era’s deepest tape-trading circles.

Originally released in 1994, ‘Procreating Mass Carnage’ stands as an early document of their descent into uncompromising Death Metal savagery. Long circulated among collectors and underground diehards, the demo has developed a cult reputation over the decades for its filthy production, suffocating riffs, and relentlessly bludgeoning approach. There is no polish here: only raw aggression, cavernous heaviness, and the sound of a band pushing deeper into darkness before the modern brutal Death Metal movement had fully taken shape.

Tracks like ‘Profanation of Christ’ showcase the band’s ability to combine oppressive atmosphere with punishing riffs and grotesque pacing, capturing the unhinged spirit of underground American Death Metal during one of its most formative eras. While many bands from the time faded into obscurity, Scattered Remnants remained a name whispered among dedicated collectors and fans searching for the genre’s most authentic and overlooked recordings.

Re-mastered by Peter Rutcho (Revocation, Havok) and vover restored and re-imagined by Nestor Carrera, this long-buried piece of underground Death Metal history is ripe for a new generation of listeners while giving longtime fans an official way to revisit one of Massachusetts’ cult extreme metal artifacts.

Now streaming everywhere. Also available on Bandcamp.

Hexorcist returns with second full-length album via Invictus Productions: “Offering ten tracks of relentless, blasphemous intensity that eschews modern trends for total sonic warfare.”

Info

Invictus Productions is proud to announce July 31, 2026, as the official release date for ‘Crucificial Imprecations’, the second full-length album from Miami Death Metal tyrants Hexorcist.

Formed in 2019, Hexorcist immediately established themselves as a ‘total Death Metal’ entity: channeling the spirit of the early 90s Florida scene with surgical precision. ‘Crucificial Imprecations’ continues this descent into the abyss, offering ten tracks of relentless, blasphemous intensity that eschews modern trends for total sonic warfare.

Simultaneously, Invictus is unleashing a definitive reissue of the band’s debut, ‘Evil Reaping Death’, now expanded with essential bonus demo material. Whether revisiting the roots of their carnage or witnessing the new evolution of their profanity, this dual-release marks Hexorcist as one of the most vital and uncompromising forces in the modern underground.

Ceremonial Worship and Eternal Death proud to announce new album: “Still proudly Hellenic, Ceremonial Worship’s third album likewise harkens to ancient times… the quartet’s personality and identity come through with full force here.”

Info

Eternal Death is proud to present Ceremonial Worship’s highly anticipated third album, ‘Between Sleep and Death’, on CD format.

Hailing from Hellas itself, Ceremonial Worship formed in 2016 as the singular creation of High Priest C.W. A couple EPs followed during the band’s first few years of existence, but in 2021, Ceremonial Worship delivered its first recording under the banner of Eternal Death with a split tape with Filipino comrades Omenfilth, jointly titled ‘The Pact of Morbid Conspiracy’.

While the band’s first full-length came at the beginning of 2022, titled ‘Ode to Dionyssus’ but in a very limited edition, the subsequent ‘Seven Gateways to Eternal Misanthropy’ later that year was regarded as Ceremonial Worship’s true debut album. Again released by Eternal Death, that record saw the band moving away from classic-styled Hellenic Black Metal toward something more abstract. Weird & wild riffing colliding with suitably anguished vocals, the pulse both distant and forceful, and the sum effect most definitely disturbing: ‘Seven Gateways to Eternal Misanthropy’ was truly titled.

In 2025, Ceremonial Worship were reborn stronger than ever: dark, unholy, with the sole purpose of delivering chaos! The Whisperer of Night, who performed vocals on 2018’s ‘Esoteron’ EP, returned sharper than ever. Two new members also joined: Petros P. invoking demons on bass, and George K. bombarding on drums. High Priest C.W. remains on guitars, unleashing the darkness in all its glory.

The result: ‘Between Sleep and Death’. Still proudly Hellenic, Ceremonial Worship’s third album likewise harkens to ancient times, but instead of the ‘Big Three’ of Greek Black Metal (Rotting Christ, Varathron, Necromantia), there’s overt tinges of Hellenic Black Metal’s second wave, such as early Kawir, Legion of Doom, Nocternity, or even mid-period Nightfall. However, the quartet’s personality and identity come through with full force here; that they combine so compellingly the respectively unique pulses of the two waves is what invites such references, coupled with an almost martial execution and a regal-yet-rowdy production. Atmosphere and aggression thus devour each other like the Ouroboros, and wanderlust is invoked across eight strident & succinct hymns, altogether making for an honorable new era for Ceremonial Worship. The dragon has awakened!
