A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Invictus Productions are no strangers to putting out unique records made by even uniquer people, prime examples being the work of Qrixkuor and Negative Plane, yet when you tell me one of their latest releases would be a satanic, sex obsessed EP defiling the name of the ‘demicuck Christ’, my interests will peak yet again. Such perversion comes from New York in the form of ‘Spectral Voyeurism’, the most recent form of hatred from Horns and Hooves.

After we are introduced to this record, we bare witness to the title track. An aggressive but strange anthem for all things perverted. Halfway through the song we are greeted with an extremely unlikely melodic guitar solo, a change from the traditionally putrid riffing contained within the beginning of this song. Although do not worry, as the record goes on, the evilness continues! Especially in the form of both tracks ‘Waiting for Creation’ and ‘Dust.

As soon as a short interlude, ‘Shallow Blue (Hesitation)’, ends, the unique sound of Horns and Hooves continues in tortuous fashion. ‘Waiting in Creation’ would have to be my favorite song for this exact reason, the opening riff alone sets the tone of the song as we are guided through a calamity of riffs that do not sound far removed from the pure essence of horror. The final song continues with that same theme, yet I can guarantee that once the final moment of ‘Dust’ comes to a close you will be asking yourself, what did I just listen to?

Despite the strangeness of this release I found it extremely enjoyable, it’s unique and stands aside from the Black Metal we seem to have become all too familiar with. If you are a fan of Venom, Absu and the act of sodomy I’m sure you’ll enjoy the latest assault from Horns and Hooves just as much as I have, if not more, you sick bastard!
