Reversed – Wildly Possessed

reversed – wildly possessed

Info

Before I ever heard their music, I was exposed to Reversed by a band photo I saw on the Invictus Productions Instagram page, the bands label. When I first laid eyes on their unholy glory I could not stray from it, they quickly became a band I had to hear. Then finding out they were from Canada, where the metalized blood runs pure in the likes of razor and Blasphemy, my hopes for their debut record ‘Wildly Possessed’ were even higher. Those who know me understand my love for all releases Invictus Productions have done but when I listened to this record it quickly became one of my consistent listens, granting it to be an album I am more than happy reviewing.

Besides the obvious Possessed influence, in both sound and look, this album offers a lot more to the underground we maniacs serve so passionately. After we witness the self-tilted intro track, we are put into an arena of fire to face off with the first of six beasts that haunt the inside of this record sleeve. The first of these beasts would be ‘Malestorm Juggernaut’, a perilous assault on the weak and untrue. As I have previously stated from the get-go we can hear the Possessed influence, but we can also hear some Black Metal influence among the blast beats and hauntingly melodic guitar playing. For the majority of the album this swaying between more melodic parts and more hard-hitting parts seems to be the centre of attention, with some stand out tracks being the likes of ‘Final Death’, which has its own music video, and the final track ‘Black Seed’. This final song is easily my favourite within the bounds of this album, the opening riff is simply something that one cannot overlook.

This record is a fine mix of Death, Thrash and Black Metal, making for a very interesting experience as you have no idea whether you are going to hear the bludgeoning sound of Grotesque or the more haunting melodies from the likes of Emperor, making every track its own unique piece of true metal savagery! Therefore, if you crave sonic violence, I assure you, the pain you long for will be found in the content of this record. Some may say the old ways of Metal are dead but bands like Reversed consistently prove those people wrong.
