Coming from Germany, Goatblood unleash ‘Mysticism of Unholy Cries’, a savage Black/Death Metal attack that needs no fancy tricks to make its intentions perfectly clear. Raw guitars, frantic drumming and vocals that sound like they were dragged straight out of some rotten hole beneath the earth.
The album moves through fast riffs, heavier passages and a cold, malicious atmosphere. ‘Wereworm Rock’, for example, captures that mix of speed and filth that makes the whole thing feel like it was recorded in the middle of some underground ritual where nobody made it out alive.
Goatblood aren’t trying to reinvent anything, and that’s exactly where their strength lies. They take the old Black/Death formula and keep it vicious, primitive and hostile. You can definitely hear echoes of Archgoat, Beherit, Revenge and Sadomator, but Goatblood never simply turn into a copy of any of them.
This album is for those who still enjoy Metal when it sounds dangerous, uncomfortable and fucking cursed. No need to polish the beast too much, just open the door and let it loose.
