AntropomorphiA unveils ‘Devoid of Light’, ready to be released by Testimony Records: “…they are still hungry to push the limits of both their own band and the Death Metal scene to new frontiers”

Info

AntropomorphiA are back! Six years after their acclaimed studio full-length ‘Merciless Savagery’ (2019), the Dutch death dealers return with their most brutal and dark record so far that is aptly entitled ‘Devoid of Light’.

When AntropomorphiA created ‘Devoid of Light’ over a period of two and a half years, the recording process was spread out through a much longer process due to a variety of reasons. During the whole time, the band never lost sight of their vision: to combine a wide variety of harsh musical textures including fanatical, white-eyed aggression, misanthropic and nihilistic lyrics, and dark emotions such as anger, despair, and pain among many others into dark and oppressive soundscapes.

AntropomorphiA were originally spawned from the foul stench of death in the Dutch city of Tilburg in 1990. At the time, they were pioneers, which soon turned them into a corner stone of the brutal music scene in the Netherlands. After releasing their first official demo ‘Bowel Mutilation’ (1992) the band immediately captured a record deal and recorded the EP ‘Necromantic Love Songs’ (1993) only a few months later, which became a cult classic.

Despite the occasional hiatus, AntropomorphiA continuously cemented their status as underground icons with a string of acclaimed releases. The debut full-length ‘Pure’ (1998) was followed by the albums ‘Evangelivm Nekromantia’ (2012), ‘Rites ov Perversion ‘(2014), ‘Sermon ov Wrath’ (2017), and ‘Merciless Savagery’ (2019).

Their uncompromising approach and ever expanding vortex of musical textures that included a growing influx of Black Metal elements into AntropomorphiA’s musical and visual DNA, the Dutch have accepted invitations by the most relevant festivals and performed at Brutal Assault, In Flammen Open Air, Summer Breeze, Motocultor, Netherlands Deathfest, Roadburn Festival, and Eindhoven Metal Meeting among many more live events.

Now AntropomorphiA are returning with ‘Devoid of Light’ to show the world that they are still hungry to push the limits of both their own band and the Death Metal scene to new frontiers. Crank the volume up to 10 and let this album rip!

New Svartsyn album ‘Vortex of the Destroyer’ coming soon: “With its tenth full-length, Svartsyn delivers a work rooted in both its present vision and primordial past”

Info

On March 28th internationally, Noevdia is proud to present the highly anticipated tenth album of Sweden’s Svartsyn, ‘Vortex of the Destroyer’.

With its tenth full-length, Svartsyn delivers a work rooted in both its present vision and primordial past. ‘Vortex of the Destroyer’ unfolds in two intertwined chapters: four new compositions alongside six resurrected relics from Chalice, the entity that would become Svartsyn in 1994.

The first half of ‘Vortex of the Destroyer’ embodies a refined-yet-relentless approach, shaped by instinct and hindsight alike. From the ruin of Atlantis to the flames of Surtr and Fenrir, these songs channel Svartsyn’s pursuit of apocalyptic grandeur – a descent into the abyss.

The latter half harks back to the autumn of 1992, breathing new life into six compositions first forged under the Chalice banner. Conceived at the dawn of the second wave of Black Metal, these tracks honor the band’s origins. Re-recorded with present clarity, their essence remains untouched: wild, sinister, and unmistakably Ornias.

By uniting its earliest fire with its latest incarnation, Svartsyn asserts an unbroken path of black devotion. ‘Vortex of the Destroyer’ is both a return and an advance, where destruction and renewal converge.

Gates of Ishtar sign to The Circle Music: “It will be the first new release in almost 3 decades and we have put all our hearts and souls into this beast of an album”

Info

We proudly announce the signing of Swedish legends Gates of Ishtar.

If there was a list of the most underrated bands in metal, Gates of Ishtar would hold a prominent place. It’s been almost 30 years since their legendary debut ‘A Bloodred Path’ appeared, and still remains in the pantheon of melodic Death Metal. Two more amazing albums followed (‘The Dawn of Flames’ – 1997, ‘At Dusk and Forever ‘- 1998) and while everything foreshadowed that a brilliant career awaited them, Gates of Ishtar fell silent.

Their reunion 17 years later, in 2015, brought big smiles to everyone who was waiting. And there were many who were waiting for such an announcement. Unfortunately, with the death of drummer Oscar Karlsson, this reunion never became a reality, and the band continued its hiatus until they finally resurrected and played at House of Metal in November 2023. As a aftermath of the huge response from the fans at that show, the plans on recording a new album was set in motion.

If anyone is wondering what Gates of Ishtar have to offer after almost three decades of absence from discography, all they have to do is listen to a few demo sample excerpts from the new material that the band has published online: Swedish melodic Death Metal at its best, with razor-sharp guitars that spawn one riff after another, thunderous drums, and Mikael Sandorf’s trademark growls.

They recently performed a devastating live show in Lulea, their birthplace. This live show coincided with the 30th anniversary of their first concert in the same place. They returned to where it all began!

Life often plays strange games. One thing is certain: Owes to Gates of Ishtar a lot and they are coming back determined to claim it all, one by one. It is our great joy to be on this journey together!

Stay tuned, the Gates are open again…

Gates of Ishtar mentioned the following:

“The gates are open once more!!!

We are super excited to work together with Maria and the Circle Music to bring you our new album! It will be the first new release in almost 3 decades and we have put all our hearts and souls into this beast of an album.

The process of writing this new material has been a joyful experience and it didn’t take more than a minute to realise that we still had that magic flow between us all in the band.

We can’t wait to hear your response to it and hopefully we meet you all outthere in 2026!

Hail Inanna!”

Into It Records planning to re-release Shub Niggurath EPs on cassette: “This is raw and primitive underground Death Metal in it’s most pure form”

Info

Shub Niggurath, a classic name from the Mexican underground. ‘Unknown Blasphemies’ compiles both EP’s, ‘Unknown Adorer’ (1991) & ‘Blasphemies of Nether World’ (1992), they released after the infamous ‘Horror Creatures’ demo.

This is raw and primitive underground Death Metal in it’s most pure form. If you want a polished studio recording stay far away from this cause this is as crude and brutal as it gets.

Besides being a very cool release this is also a tribute to 2 people who sadly are no longer among us. The first being Arturo, the blasphemous voice of Shub Niggurath. I’m sure everyone who was in contact with him remembers him as being such a great guy. He wrote the coolest letters.
The other one is Danny de Koeyer who originally released the ‘Unknown Adorer’ EP on his Erosionable Records. Danny was a very fanatical ‘undergrounder’, part of the small scene we had going on in the South West of the Netherlands. He started out with the Lugubrious compilation tape before doing his label. Sadly the ‘Unknown Adorer’ EP was his only release. Danny is actually the one you see on the front of the ep! So, R.I.P. to both of them

Tape is set for release in April.

Invictus signs deal with Memento Mori: “Invictus have a unique feel to their music that is enshrouded in the mystique of the past”

Info

In our endless quest to push and support current underground acts that perpetuate the odor of vintage Death Metal, we’re extremely thrilled to announce a new signing: Invictus, from Japan.

Conceived in Nagano City back in 2015, Invictus’ original goal was to play Death Metal with hints of technicality and a strong Thrash Metal edge, combining the morbid grooves and abhorrent atmospherics of all archaic Death Metal gods (Death, Malevolent Creation, Monstrosity, Brutality, Mercyless, Morbid Angel, Gorguts, Obituary, early Decapitated, Sadistic Intent, early Cannibal Corpse…) and prioritizing the creation of songs crammed with commanding riffs over any other aspect of their putrescent music. While the target remains the same, the band is now exploring a broader spectrum of riff-oriented Death Metal in order to aggravate the carnage, exuding a more pernicious aural decay and bludgeoning the listener into submission by some of the meatiest and most vitriolic Death Metal conceivable.

Invictus have a unique feel to their music that is enshrouded in the mystique of the past. Guttural guitars throw forth bolts of arcane malignancy while the drumming pulverises the corporeal body with percussive blows. Vocally, the band sit in their macabre low-register and ensure everything is tied together gloriously for your listening displeasure with a truly crushing production that’s as organically lethal as it can get. If you love Death Metal, true and morbid, then don’t miss out on these Japanese masters of putridity.

Profanatica unveils new EP ‘Wreathed in Dead Angels’, released by Hells Headbangers: “…there’s only ever been one true Profanatica”

Info

Hells Headbangers is proud to present Profanatica’s highly anticipated new mini-album, ‘Wreathed in Dead Angels’, on CD, 12″ vinyl, and cassette tape formats.

Profanatica require no introduction. Cold ‘n’ alone American Black Metal before “USBM” became some dumb rallying term, pushing boundaries and “good taste” with vile blasphemy and even-more-vile music, and simply doing whatever the fuck they want, both in their original early ’90s guise and their now-intensely-prolific period in the 21st millennium: there’s only ever been one true Profanatica.

However, let it be known than Profanatica are not standard “Black Metal,” but rather their own rarefied strain of Black / Death Metal. They’ve been proving it the last handful of years, and prove it more perversely than ever with ‘Wreathed in Dead Angels’. The band’s return to longtime supporters Hells Headbangers features six brand-new tracks in a swift ‘n’ salacious 22 minutes: immediately, irrevocably Profanatica from beginning to end. But, while the power-trio maintain a signature sound, by no means are they repeating past glories. From the utterly gutted guitar tone to the cultivated primitivism of founder Paul Ledney’s drumming to the creeping / crushing songwriting, ‘Wreathed in Dead Angels’ vulgarly displays Profanatica just entering their prime – all the more amazing for a band that’s been around since 1990.

New album from Ghörnt on the way, released by Soulseller Records: “The album combines furious blast beats and uptempo with melodic leads that will stick in your head”

Info

Soulseller Records proudly presents the new album of Ghörnt, entitled ‘Bluetgraf’!

With their third full-length the witching Swiss Black Metal duo have brewed an unusual piece of dark art. The album combines furious blast beats and uptempo with melodic leads that will stick in your head. Thematically it is all about different stories about vampires, including the most famous ones like Vlad Tepes, and local myths.

‘Bluetgraf’ was recorded at Chäuer Studios / Bär (drums, bass and guitars) and Hellvete Studio / Luzern (vocals) and mixed / mastered by Christoph Brandes at Iguana Studios. Artwork by Julian.

Travel through the myths woven and told through the band’s native Luzern dialect! For fans of Dark Funeral, Marduk or Belphegor!

Sijjin return with their 2nd opus on Sepulchral Voice Records: “The album conjures its own life of satanic imagery, diabolical debauchery and biblical fatalism”

Info

Hark and behold, all ye supporters of the darkest of Metal, the time has finally come. Four years after the sheer onslaught which was ‘Sumerian Promises’, Sijjin return with their 2nd opus entitled ‘Helljjin Combat’.

The German/Basque trio has delved into depths absolute, focusing their lens on the most antediluvian variety of Death Metal while bringing up a derivative of evil Thrash with utmost evil intent. The album conjures its own life of satanic imagery, diabolical debauchery and biblical fatalism. Sijjin follow the firm path they once took but permanently turn to the south of heaven.

Recorded live at BlackStorm Studios in Karrantza, Basque Country, the new songs brim over with satanic energy, countless tempo changes, vile twists and turns, a demanding instrumental performance and riffs that drag you directly to the lowest point in hell. On top of that, blessed with abysmal strength as it seems, Gericke’s vocals never sounded as raspy and malevolent as on ‘Helljjin Combat’, or to put it simple, dirty as fuck.

Adorned with an authentic and completely dry 80s analog sounding production, the record takes aim like fallen angels, storming the vaults in high heaven. In stark contrast to the tracks on ‘Sumerian Promises’, Sijjin’s newer direction focuses on more extensive song structures as practiced by the godfathers of mid 80s Metal insanity, bringing such infamous names as Infernäl Mäjesty, Nasty Savage, Possessed, very early Slayer or Megadeth to mind.

In conclusion while seeking combat in hell, the trio of Sijjin has once more ultimately testified to be the trident in the left hand of the devil. So mote it be!

Purity Through Fire and Granitader drops new EP: “Comparisons to the likes of Windur, Falkenbach, or fellow Teutonic horde Horn are still valid…”

Info

Purity Through Fire is proud to present a brand-new EP from Granitader, ‘Schlachtenklang’, on digipack CD format.

Following last year’s masterful debut album, ‘Der Wald zwischen den Welten’, Granitader continue to storm the ramparts with the three-song / 16-minute ‘Schlachtenklang’. Short but most definitely sweet, this new EP is absolutely bursting at the seams with triumph and urgency; any longer and the listener might have a heart attack! Whereas that celebrated first full-length showed the Germans’ masterful grasp of songwriting and dynamics – and plenty of confidence and charisma to spare – here do Granitader light a fire under their pagan Black Metal, swarming from every direction with swords-aloft bloodlust and righteous bravado.

Comparisons to the likes of Windur, Falkenbach, or fellow Teutonic horde Horn are still valid, but daresay do none of them whip forth such a life-affirming fury quite like ‘Schlachtenklang’, and the incorporation of occasional deathly vocals is a welcome development. Old souls who exude the effervescence of the new, Granitader continue their ascent to the top of the pagan pack with ‘Schlachtenklang’!
