A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

You will have to forgive me but other than Negura Bunget, I have been out of touch with the Romanian scene. So yeah, my bad but I’m glad I got to hear and experience Putred, with this is their latest release because it opens the floodgates for me to delve further into what Romania has to offer. One thing I took away and I admire when bands sing in their dialect and the whole package is their language and their feelings in their own words. You know a true spirit is being forth and also it gives us the opportunity to experience something different and perhaps delve further into the history and or just learn a new language.

Okay now on to the music itself. Putred plays an old-school plodding and pummeling type of Death Metal. For some reason, they remind me much of the sound from the Chicago/ Illinois area. Bands like Cianide, Lividity, and also Fetid from the PNW ( not quite the same area I know) but you get where I’m coming from and what you can expect. Granted they are not playing anything new, and not a forthcoming timeless classic but I feel there is enough energy and feeling and just an oozing of emotion bursting forth from the speakers that it can draw you into their sound. Now another thing I noticed is the production and the drumming/bass drum are just so powerful, that you can feel the kick in your gut. Also, the bass guitar plays a vital part as well, interlocking and adding to the guitars. Vocals are similar to Chris Barnes and his approach in Six Feet Under.

So this being only their 2nd full-length they do have a host of singles/demos/splits to their name since 2020, so they are slowly solidifying their sound and reputation has a force to be reckoned with. Take the time to for yourselves. I don’t think you will be disappointed.
