A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Interestingly, the origins of Bergen based Black Metal band Nattverd date all the way back to the 90’s, although the bands official genesis was far later. ‘I Helvetes Forakt’ is the bands fourth studio album since 2017, continuing a rich vein of productivity and consistency in the bands bands history, and this May will be released on both CD and LP by Soulseller Records. And consistent is certainly the key word when describing this new opus; a consistently searing and ravenous offering of furious Black metal, only tempered by the odd respite of melodic interlude. Not that ‘I Helvetes Forakt’ is an unceasing juggernaut of repetitive blast beat driven mania, on the contrary! I found this album to have a superbly technical nature that is emboldened by the mastery of all participants, and the end result is a decidedly gloomy and rhythmic affair. Vocally powerful and searing in their ferocity, that sets the tempo for the overall atmosphere of the album which relies on cold riffs with veins of steel, a deep throated rumble of bass and a passionate and methodical surge of drumming prowess. On top of that the ice laden melodic undercurrents are engaging and thought provoking. ‘I Helvetes Forakt’ is an album that keeps up the Norwegian Black Metal traditions of the past three decades, yet with an up to date sound that is as crisp and fresh as an Arctic dawn!
