A new review section: Buried by Time And Dust

We added a new review section, coincidentally another Mayhem reference following 'The Past is Alive', with the title 'Buried by Time and Dust'. Over the years, a lot of promos have been gathering dust simply because a fresh wave of promos arrived the following month and they were consigned to oblivion. We will review them here to make a clear distinction with our other reviews. We will also use it to complete a discography in terms of reviews. Feel free to contact us if you would like to submit your music or would like to join the staff.

Info

In the interview we had with Devotion after the release of ‘The Harrowing’, it became clear that names like Bolt Thrower, Morgoth, and Winter were mentioned during the development of their musical ideas. It should be clear that these Spaniards have not opted for, for example, the Angelcorpse approach, but rather prioritise mid-tempo and groove when writing their music.

As with its predecessor ‘The Harrowing’, the Old School Death Metal with a Doom twist and atmosphere feels European and 90s. And where Bolt Thrower was known for it, I often hear that kind of rolling tank rhythm in Devotion’s music as well. The growl might be a bit too monotonous for some, but those people will probably also find Grave too monotonous, so as far as I’m concerned, it’s far from disturbing.

‘Astral Catacombs’ is simply a pleasant album to listen to; it delivers what you expect.
