‘I am Legion’ is a famous quote from the Bible, meaning, there are many things of something. The same is true for Werwolf, as there are many bands with this name in metal music. This Werwolf comes from Freiburg, Germany.
Founded in 2005, they published various releases, while ‘Satanic Terror’ is their first (!) full length album. The musical roots even go deeper into the dark past, showing influences of 90s Black Metal with some older Darkthrone in it. It’s hard to pick certain songs, more important is the atmosphere that this record creates in its entirety. It’s raw, cold and dark, and every listener could easily come up with more sinister adjectives. ‘Satanic Terror’ is something that can be best enjoyed from start to finish, while slowly getting immersed into the album.
There may be many Werwolfs. This one does not come up with something new that has never been heard before, instead the record is a remembrance to 90s Black Metal. A trip back in time with modern production.
