Order of Nosferat – The Absence of Grace

order of nosferat – the absence of grace

Info

A band name as alluring as Order of Nosferat signifies music that may be just as alluring. And that’s certainly the case with ‘The Absence of Grace’, the fifth offering from this Vampyric Black Metal act to grace our ears (pun intended) with melancholic riffs and Dungeon Synth-infused passages. It’s impressive how prolific this band is, considering the fact that they’ve only been around since 2021 when they released ‘Necuratul’. Their albums and splits have been pretty consistent so far, with the same aura of sanguinary dread persisting through and through.

‘The Absence of Grace’ holds back no punches either and delivers moody Black Metal songs on a dish best served cold. They’ve perfected their formula: raw yet murky production, brooding keyboards that never overpower the songs, mixed with lyrics invoking rather nihilistic vampiric imagery to its max. And we’re not talking about your typical vampires. This is the soundtrack of Count Orloc attending a grotesque masquerade thrown together by the Théâtre des Vampires. While the Order of Nosferat open the album with a more mid-paced track (‘Floating with the Ravaged Ones’), they bring in the heavy for the next one (‘Devoured by Lurking Shadows’) as if to remind us that they’ve not gone soft compared to the tenacity of their earlier material.

If it’s atmospheric Black Metal with vampiric themes you’re after, this release is something you should sink your teeth into (pun, again, intended). Open up a cask of Amontillado and let the Order of Nosferat guide thee on thy quest!
