Morbosatan is a Peruvian Extreme Metal band formed in Lima in 2013. Their sound fuses Death, Black and Thrash Metal under themes of anti-Christianity, chaos, cruelty, death, genocide, lust and sex. Since their inception they’ve maintained a raw, underground aesthetic and are currently signed to Ablaze Productions. Numerous demo’s and split contributions have been released.
This Ablaze Productions from Mexico unveiled Morbosatan’s third full-length, ‘Morbo, Coca, Satán’, on February 11, 2025. The label’s statement emphasizes the trio’s unholy alchemy of Death, Black and Thrash, noting the album’s “uncompromising rawness” and “ritualistic atmosphere” forged in Lima’s underground. It highlights producer Fernando Holguín’s live-tracked approach at Estudios Metrónomo, preserving the band’s visceral intensity, and teases “savage new hymns” like ‘The Curse of Asmodeus’.
The album received several rave reviews: “Morbo, Coca, Satán” is a pulverizing rite, where Morbosatan perfect their blend of feral thrash riffing and suffocating blackened tremolo. ‘Coca’ riff on ‘Versvs Christvs’ will leave your neck bruised.” “Lima’s underground titans channel chaos into an album that’s as blasphemous in title as it is in spirit. Occasional slowdown in ‘Sacrificial Reign’ doesn’t derail the album’s momentum.”
But … Is all this hype and sale pitch true? Morbosatan revel in the South American sound, genre Goat Semen, Sarcofago, old Masacre, Macabro Genocidio or Blasphemous Division: the downtuned music is raw, feral and sinister with pounding drums, low end bass and plenty of uncanny panned guitars. All band members served time in other bands and are very experienced. It’s a combination of good old South American metal and modern influences that makes this ‘Morbo, coca, Satán’ so irresistible to listen to. This is TRVE metal!
Tracks as ‘Sacrificial Reign’, ‘Las leyes del Tridente y la Espada’, ‘Versvs Christvs’or the title track ‘Morbo, Coca, Satán’ are nothing short of being prime examples of great unholy satanic and timeless music! In 30 years from now, people will still cherish this album! Fans of the genre and the crude but delicious South American sound already have the album – others don’t need to have any doubts.
