Mavorim – Non Omnis Moriar

mavorim – non omnis moriar

Info

I honestly feel like this band is overlooked a whole hell of a lot more than they really should be. For me personally this is my third release from them that I am reviewing for this lovely fanzine and I have heard most of their discography, minus a few splits and demos. And oddly enough, there has never been the interest around them that they truly deserve. Each and every thing they do is fantastic. Hell, I even called ‘Axis Mundi’, their last full-length album, a modern day classic and I still stand by that claim. Does ‘Non Omnis Moriar’ live up to that type of praise? Stick around, keep reading, and find out.

Never being a band that rests on their laurels, Mavorim change, morph and progress with each and every release. Forever striving to find the best balance between the Teutonic buzzsaws and atmospheric bliss. With ‘Non Omnis Moriar’ we get more of that buzzsaw aggressiveness than we did on ‘Axis Mundi’. While not being a step back in production and progression it does seems as if a step back into their own past a bit more. Allowing the more atmospheric/ambient sections to still be incorporated but more as subtle touches and breaths than the main focus. In summary; more feral, less ambient, still Mavorim.

Now for the real question. Does ‘Non Omnis Moriar’ live up to the modern day classic, my claim, ‘Axis Mundi’? It’s hard to say when comparing two differnet beasts (albums) from the same parent (band). But I would have to say, in my humble opinion, yes. This is German Black Metal of the highest quality, period. So stop sleeping on this band, go listen to them, support them. Let’s try to get them the recognition they really truly deserve. This album, ‘Non Omnis Moriar’, came out in 2021 and they have a new one coming soon as well. I guarantee if you like Black Metal, at all, you will like this band.
