With these four incantations, the Ajaccio duo takes possession of the listener through a tortuous adventure, a raw, icy, uncompromising Black Metal, devoid of any human soul.
Coming from the Isle of Beauty, I must admit that my subconscious imagined something, let’s say… Different, which would highlight the Corsican cliché, the language, the folklore, and why not the Brucciu… But it’s not at all like that! It’s misanthropy and auditory terrorism in the purest Black Metal tradition.
With its debut demo, Mevrtre declares a return to first principles—a salute to the old French Black Metal guard. Centered on themes of murder, torture, terrorism, misanthropy, biblical motifs, visions, and revelations, the band forges a sound that is raw, aggressive, twisted, yet unmistakably melodic and epic. Mevrtre unleashes four relentless, hallucinatory hymns shaped by the spirit of Les Légions Noires, S.V.E.S.T., Malhkebre, Malicious Secrets, Deathspell Omega, Darvulia, Goatspell, Antaeus, and Hell Militia, as well as international influences such as Katharsis, Ultra Silvam, Clandestine Blaze, and Propast.
With this excellent first appearance, Mevrtre will undoubtedly be the new entity to follow absolutely! Can’t wait for the next one!
