When a band chooses a name that leaves so little to the imagination, it can only do its best to fully and completely live up to the expectations. Indeed, Order Of Nosferat, a duo of which one hails from Germany and the other from Finland, leave no doubt about it, this is vampiric Black Metal in its purest form. That particular theme has been used countless times, of course, but it is once again made clear here in great detail that Black Metal and vampirism are pretty much inextricably intertwined.
The rather prolific twosome, releasing four albums in the span between 2021 and 2022, offers their third album with ‘Nachtmusik’, an album title that fits the music like a glove. The pitch black but at the very same time romantic Black Metal on the album complement those classic gothic novels. It alternates strong emotions in great regularity, the razor-sharp riffs and icy guitar tone providing a stunning contrast to the amorous keyboard pieces that throughout the album seem to tell the story and amplify the listener’s feelings. The cold and bleak character of the music as well as the thundering and melancholic melodies do fit so much to the loneliness of the vampiric existence. The artwork for ‘Nachtmusik’ is just another stunningly fitting addition to the overall experience of the album.
‘Nachtmusk’ is an album that, specifically due to the guitar tone, resembles the great works of bands like Drowning The Light and Satanic Warmaster. Subsequently, those who like to dive deeply into the discographies of those bands will definitely be intrigued and appealed by the great beauty of Order Of Nosferat.
