Königreichssaal – Psalmen’o’delirium

Königreichssaal is German for ‘Kingdom Hall’, a place of worship used by Jehovah’s Witnesses. This Polish Black Metal trio, Königreichssaal, has released their second full-length album, “Psalmen’o’Delirium” on Godz Ov War Productions. It almost slipped through our hands here – but not quite.

On their Bandcamp the band states: ‘Psalmen’o’delirium’ reveals seven Shades of madness, a moral journey with downfalls, possession and the constant will to rebuild the soul and body. The personality is torn apart, the emerging body remains ready for battle!

It does feel like a door to hell has been opened. ‘Iskarja’ is a tidal wave of insanity – heavy as lead with bone crushing riffs, thunderous drums and vocals that seem to be vomited by a devil possessed soul at times. A moral journey with downfalls, possession and the constant will to rebuild the soul and body: the eternal struggle of the demonic and dark against the divine and luminous. Devil against Divine, darkness against light – the lyrics seem to reflect this eternal struggle and the torment that comes with it.

Königreichssaal go full throttle on this album. everything seems to be plunged in darkness and menace/terror is just lurking around the corner. Insanity reigns supreme – just listen to ‘Lazaret’. ‘Psalmen’o’delirium’ may be Black Metal, it dives deep into the realms of madness – the music is quite erratic to say the least. Bits and pieces all fall into place and are added to the musical compisations turning it into one nerve-wrecking symphony. Have a listen to ‘Delirio’ or ‘Anatema’.

It’s one big hellish trip to all corners of the mind. One could even say it has DSBM influences and was inspired by bands like Shining or Kriegsmaschine.

A crushing black piece of art it is – blending different musical styles in order to fuse crushing heaviness with bleak, frostbitten textures. Amazing! It gets a well-deserved maximum score for me and you really need to check out this album.
